Frequently Asked Questions

What are your qualifications?

I studied at Perth College of Beauty Therapy and completed a Certificate II in Makeup Services in July 2011.

Will you guide me as to the kind of look you think will suit me or do I need to know what I want before you arrive?

I am happy to give guidance about what I think will best suit you and I encourage you to have as much input into the creation of your look as you wish. If you have pictures for inspiration they are always helpful. I aim to provide you with the look that you desire, from natural to colourful and everything in between. If I suggest something that you don't like, please tell me! The makeup will be on your face so you will need to be happy with it. It does not bother me at all if you wish to change something. It is important to me that you are completely satisfied with your makeup.

How long will it take to have my makeup done?

For bridal work, I like to allow extra time so that nobody feels rushed or under pressure. For brides I allow one hour and for bridesmaids I allow forty five minutes. Special occasion makeup also usually takes about forty five minutes. Makeup lessons are one to two hours per person, up to four people.

How do I pay for my makeup?

Payment can be made in cash on the day or by deposit into my bank account. If you choose to deposit your payment into my bank account, payment is to be made 14 days prior to the event to allow time for payment to clear. If you choose to pay cash, please have the correct money as I do not carry change. Please contact me for my bank details. If you require a receipt for your payment, I can provide you with one on the day.

Are you a mobile makeup artist or can I come to you?

Both! I am able to attend your home or hotel to apply your makeup or you are welcome to attend my home studio, located near Joondalup. When making your booking, please let me know where you would like your makeup application to take place. Please be aware if you wish to attend my home studio that I own two cats, in case of any allergies. The cats will be outside during your appointment.

What makeup products do you use?

I believe in taking the best products from a variety of different brands. I am constantly changing and updating my kit and like to include a range of professional and non-professional products.

Brands that I am currently using include:
  • MAC
  • Bioderma
  • Graftobian
  • Kryolan
  • FACE Atelier
  • Estée Lauder
  • Makeup Forever
  • Illamasqua
  • Skindinavia
  • Napoleon Perdis
  • Dermablend
  • Keromask
  • Clinique

What should I do to prepare for my wedding day?

I would suggest having regular facials in the months leading up to your wedding. Applying makeup to flawless skin gives a flawless finish which looks beautiful in photos. You will need to be using a good daily skin care routine to maintain your skin between your facial treatments. I would also suggest having an eyebrow wax one to two days before your trial and one to two days before your wedding day. Perfectly shaped brows frame your face and complete your look. The day before your wedding, gently exfoliate your face to remove any dead skin cells before your big day.

How long will my makeup last?

I use the best possible products to ensure that your makeup stays flawless throughout your event. I also set your makeup with a finishing spray so your eye makeup and foundation should last for hours. You will need to touch up your lip products and I am able to provide a small sample jar of the products I used for you to take with you in order for you to do this.

How do you maintain good hygiene?

Before every makeup application I wash my hands with soap and water, or use a hand sanitiser gel. This ensures that I am not passing germs from one client to the next. It also means my hands are clean and can be used to apply products to your face. My brushes are sprayed with brush cleaner which contains alcohol to kill germs between clients. At the end of the day, my brushes are thoroughly washed and sanitised and allowed to air dry. When using mascara and lip products, I always use disposable applicators which are thrown away after a single use. My eye shadows are sprayed with alcohol after each client to kill any germs.

Do you have products for sensitive skin?

I have sensitive skin myself and I am able to use all of the products I use for makeup application on myself. I understand that some people have different sensitivities so I endeavour to always use products which are suitable for sensitive skin. If you know that you are allergic to a certain product or ingredient, please inform me of this at the time of booking and I will do my best to cater for your needs. I have both latex based and non-latex eye lash glue for people with latex allergies.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes. Gift certificates are available upon request. I have two kinds of gift certificates. I have one for makeup application valued at $70 and one for makeup lessons valued at $100. Gift certificates expire 12 months from the purchase date.

Do you sell any of the products you use?

At this stage, I do not sell any products that I use on clients. However, I am happy to tell you where I purchased them from if you wish to buy them for yourself. I do not receive any payment for recommending products to clients and I would never recommend something I did not feel was a good quality product or was not good value for money.
